Whirled Ball Screws

In whirling, the thread is machined by means of a tool rotating around the hardened and ground raw material. In this process, backlash-free screw drives can be realized as with ground spindles and higher accuracies as well as better straightness can be achieved compared to rolled spindles. Due to the ground outer diameter, end machining can be performed with higher concentricity at lower cost. This puts the somewhat higher basic price of whirled spindles into perspective compared to rolled spindles.
